I long for the simple puzzles of a child.
At some point in a person's life, one relishes in the thought of being a child again. The sheer thought of ignorance to the outside world is not only tempting, but if the chance was given we'd surely take it. The simplistic life of a child was what some would call envious. Our loved ones carefully constructed our universe that was quite literally a glass house– with the smallest touch it could shatter without choice, matter, or clause. We knew nothing of the people outside our universe that withheld devious thoughts and asinine intentions. In fact, we didn't care. However, they knew of us.
As children, we partook in childlike tasks. Often questioning why the sky was blue, and why the grass was green. Parents provided their innocent children with simple answers, never fully explaining that the blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering and that the grass is green because plants contain a pigment known as chlorophyll. Kahlil Gibran said, "Perplexity is the beginning of knowledge." Yet that is exactly what our parents dreaded: knowledge. If ignorance to the world is innocence, then knowledge by definition destroys innocence. Therefore, if we questioned the very enticing world that surrounded us, we'd soon discover the horrific realities that wait at our doorstep.

Coming to Terms - Chapter one
Hey there, glad you could make it. It isn't often you humans trust a Vura. What do you call us? Sirens? Oh, never mind. Let us start with introductions. It would do for you to know who I am, as this will be a long tale and will require several meetings between us. I am Meloku deNysa, a member of the Serkan family. Ah, no need to introduce yourself. I already know who you are.
Now, for my story. Myth and legend both tell us that a hero's story starts with an unusual birth. This should have told me from the start that my sister would be such. After all, I carried her. No, she is not my daughter. I am, to this day, what you would call a vir

Tears of Joy
I will never forget the day
you came into my world.
It was the first time
I ever wept tears of joy.
I heard your voice for the first time,
and it was unlike any I have ever heard.
When I touched your hand
I felt all of the colors of the rainbow.
The world stopped that day
just to take a peek at you,
and you lit up the room!
You were so perfect!
A new love in my life!
I nearly hit the floor when I heard
"Congratulations it's a boy!"

The Letter
Of me it always gets the better
A reminder of what you once were
It will stick to me no what what will occur
A piece of parper with so much meaning
A memory of the smile beaming
The memories tend to flow
It will always be a comfort to know
The degree of happiness that came
Of how you took my heart to claim
You may be distant from my heart
But the paper gives my day a start
The words you wrote are slowly fading
My mind is always one you're raiding
The moonlilght still shines below
Gleaming memories from a freshly fallen snow
The summer nights still remind me of the night
When your smile pierced through with an angel's light
No matter how

This is the first piece of chapter one from A Palpable Illusion. It's not my best work, but it's good enough for now. I'm in the process of writing more and editing it.
btw, this was written months ago. It was written when I still had an inkling of how to write properly. Ah, I miss those days...
